The Mona Lisa’s Smile There’s a place where no one see’s you So far down inside it seems to Call you more and more these days But you know where that’s at   I was way down on my luck and falling You were always kind and calling The world keeps turning faster now But I’ll remember you for that   You were hard to read But that was just your style Cuz you were like the Mona Lisa’s smile   You were in my shoes Walking all those miles And you were like the Mona Lisa   Give me time to think about it It’s been so long there’s no doubt it Slipped away just like a dream It comes back to me now   You were like a sun rise sea But all roads headed west for me And years are what we lose when we And busy passing time   Smiling to me Smile right through me You just knew me Like nobody else

Bottle Rocket Everything about her said it all Everything about her drew him in Glowing in the twilight like a gypsy's crystal ball Laying like a tattoo on his skin Oh mercy me Oh kingdom come Flying like a bottle rocket up around the sun Falling, falling back around they come Nothing new is underneath the sun But underneath the stars we can't be sure Kisses are like lighting before the rains begun Fever's burning high without a cure Oh mercy me Oh kingdom come Flying like a bottle rocket up around the sun Falling, falling back around they come Love is only true love when it;s blind Every silver lining has a cloud it's left behind Oh mercy me Oh kingdom come Flying like a bottle rocket up around the sun Falling, falling back around they come

A Hail Mary and a high school prom queen Trade in your troubles for original sin I bought the story of your royalty unseen But you’ll be history when your ship comes in   ‘Cause you’re A grass is greener girl A have you seen her girl A grass is always greener girl   There’re pieces missing from your jig saw heart You’ve got the edges but the middle’s all wrong You’ve got the friends who look and act the part But you’re still hanging where you don’t belong   ‘Cause you’re A grass is greener girl A have you seen her girl A grass is greener kind of girl   Girl I’m dreaming, satellites are falling down Like stars around us now   I want to hold you like when we first met Before I heard the song your caged bird sings Before you kissed me like to hedge your bets With one eye open for the next best thing    ‘Cause you’re A grass is greener girl A have you seen her girl A grass is always greener girl

We keep on running from each other, taking cover, So we'll live to fight an other day I used to taunt you that I really didn't want you girl Just to watch you walk away Oh sweet child you drive me wild You're my dream and you're my demon Oh, Oh, Oh sing it Oh, Oh, Oh You leave so little to imagination I'm in the middle of your bump and grind girl Take it with you when you go Or leave it all behind You're flying, no you're falling You're falling, feels like flight Stay here tonight and leave it all behind Hi diddle diddle girl I'm caught in the middle 'Tween what you do and what you say 'Tween truth and lies and there's a storm on the horizon Gonna blow us both away

Falling Down 03:14
Time will steal your soul Time will tell if you listen hard I'm waisting time just looking for Things I've lost in my own back yard No one wants to play the fool No one wants the jesters crown Falling, falling, falling down Saint Helena hear my prayers Wish I could believe that's true Things get so far out of hand And I could use a girl like you See me living in my head See me stumbling through this town Falling, falling, falling down Looking down I've missed my calling Don't look now the sky is falling Left for gone here at the scene Wanting more that you'd allow With issues like a magazine And a heart that's broken like a vow Lift me from the ashes burning Lay me on this sacred ground Falling, falling, falling down

Remembering when We were much younger then But who wasn't We may look back and find We've left too much behind But who doesn't The clouds are like our dreams So far out of reach over head There's no swinging back when this pendulum's swung Youth is most definitely wasted on the young Trust in me must there be All this confusion and doubt If I knew then what I know now Would everything have worked out The sun shines the same on the cradle as it does on the stone All men are sinners when all's said and done Youth is most definitely wasted on the young Ashes ashes we all fall down Time is on our side but it has a strange way of showin' it The best things are happening so slow without us even knowing it The times maybe changing but there's nothing new 'neath the sun Everything rests on the slip of a tongue The songs we sing now could have never been sung Youth is most definitely wasted on the young

Diamond Ring 02:56
Better listen to your heart girl 'Cause you're never gonna listen to me Better be both safe and sorry There's better living through chemistry And I, I think I gave it all I could Some one must have hurt you girl Some one must have told you lies 'Cause you don't know a good thing When you see it with your own two eye's And I, Girl I could give you a vow and a diamond ring But that won't make your sad heart sing No that won't change anything I didn't want to hurt you girl I just wanted to see you smile Hold you in my arms girl Make it better for a little while It's so sad and it's getting sadder Hope you find what you're looking for If it ain't me girl it doesn't matter It doesn't matter any more Girl I could give you a vow and a diamond ring But that won't make your sad heart sing No that won't change anything

The living haunt the dead With songs about the past Trading in precious things For things that never last   And I know you’ll smile 'Cause you always do And you’ll walk those miles In my worn out shoes And since God left town it’s been Only you   I’d rather hide than seek Olly olly oxen free A world left to the meek Now that doesn’t seem too likely   Since God left town it’s been you and me We been just like that anyone could see Anyone could see if they wanted to That since God left town it’s been Only you

Set Me Free 05:48
Every time I think of you There’s a skipped beat, silk sheet, back street girl out on Main Street Singing yesterday’s news   Every time I get the blues I get to choose, between me and you and what’s left of us And yesterday’s news   And I got to find a key  baby To this cell you left me in I’ve gotta find a key And set me free   First I look into your eyes Sparks flyin’ A young fire just tryin’ to grow wild, wild, wild  The ravages of time, The fault is yours and mine, and I just can’t keep from crying child, child, child And I got to find a key  baby To this cell you left me in I’ve gotta find a key And set me free

I came across a poem of yours Tucked inside an old Tom Robbins book It swept me back in time for sure Guess I had to have another look   Time’s the great deceiver Out of sight and out of mind Until your lazy script reminded me   You left it where you knew I – wouldn’t mind it Between the falling stars and the moon You put it where you knew that I would find it In my dog eared copy of Jitterbug Perfume   The poem was of two lovers Split between the dark of night and dawn I assume I was the darkness there And you the break of day already gone   You put it where you knew that I would find it In my dog eared copy of Jitterbug Perfume   No one lives for ever but a writer Poems can make you live another day Songs just make you want to hold on tighter Love just makes you want to fade away

There's a general in a hotel suite Far above the city streets Filling now with retribution Once he was a rebel now he's Waiting on the revolution There's a solder at a barricade Young and proud and unafraid Thirsty for his contribution Wide eyed in the breaking dawn Waiting on the revolution There's a fire burning in the square Banners waving in the air Offering their new solution In the calm before the storm Waiting on the revolution There's a young girl in a ghetto scene Trying to build a bridge between The grace of God and destitution Under privileged, over drawn Waiting on the revolution A young monk sits beneath a tree Deep inside himself he sees An end to to all this worlds confusion In the dark before the dawn Waiting on the revolution
